Extract text from scanned PDFs and photos. Upload the whole file — every page is processed.
How to extract text from a scanned PDF
Drop the whole PDF, PNG, or JPG. You do not need to split it into 2-page chunks.
Choose the document language.
Click Extract text. Time grows with page count because every page is read.
Copy the text, or download it as text, Word, or a searchable PDF.
FEATURES
The whole document
This tool processes every page in the file you upload.
Pick the language
Choose the language that matches the document before the file is read.
Honest accuracy
Clean printed text reads most reliably. Handwriting, stamps, and faint scans are harder. You get the full document, not perfect OCR.
Searchable PDF
Download keeps the original pages and adds a hidden text layer so you can search in a reader.
Privacy
Uploaded files are deleted as soon as the job finishes or fails, and leftovers are removed within 2 hours.
Works in the browser
No extra software. Use OCR from any modern browser on desktop or mobile.
Extract text from scans without claiming perfect accuracy
What this OCR tool does
Use this tool when a PDF is a scan or a photo of a page. It reads every page in the file you upload. Digitally generated PDFs are handled first by reading the existing text layer, which is faster and more accurate than OCR.
Languages
Choose the language that matches the document. A combined option is available when a page uses two supported languages.
What you should expect
Clean printed text reads most reliably. Handwriting, stamps, and dark phone photos are harder. This is not perfect OCR. It is OCR that will take the whole document.
How to get a clearer result
Lay the page flat, light it evenly, and scan at 300 DPI or higher when you can. If a page is hard to read, try a new scan of those pages rather than re-running the same file.
Privacy
Files are sent to our servers only to run the job. Uploads are deleted when the job succeeds or fails, and any remaining temp files are removed within 2 hours.
